A Summer Evening On Belstone Tor, Dartmoor

A Summer Evening on Belstone Tor, Dartmoor

The sun had just slipped beyond the distant horizon, and the granite rocks were radiating latent heat from earlier in the day. Clouds of blood-thirsty midges spiralled above the low clumps of moorland heather, and the faint bleating of sheep could be heard at East Okement Farm to the West. I stayed here for a while, watching the moon rising above the rocks, pondering events from earlier in the day. I love the timeless quality of Dartmoor and how I always leave feeling totally at peace.
